Grieving and healing don’t happen overnight
by Reuben M. Chow, Living-With-Grief.com
Many times along the grieving journey, I had found myself making intellectual and emotional breakthroughs; either gaining new insights, feeling more at peace, or both. It felt good to have a sense of ‘progress’.
Yet, also many times, I found myself crashing back down to earth. Pain, guilt and sadness easily resurface through various ways - it could be a bad dream, a haunting memory, a place which evokes certain memories, a song, a special date, or practically anything at all.
Through these experiences, I am learning to be patient. Grieving and healing don’t happen overnight. There is no hurry. We need to give ourselves time.
